Early in 2001, I realized there was a need in the Latent Print community to have a central web site, a "home base" from which Latent Print Examiners could relax,  kick back, and easily access any available information about our science and practice they may need.  I viewed this project not as a replacement for existing web sites and information, but rather as a tool to efficiently organize links to specific fingerprint-related topics and an avenue to provide new and exciting developments in the field in a timely manner to those interested.

There are currently many sites on the internet that deal with fingerprint related topics.  Two stand above the rest.

The Southern California Association of Fingerprint Officers (SCAFO) maintains a website dedicated to providing much needed information, and has made available hundreds of articles on the internet.  Many of the links to articles in this website go directly to an article made available by Alan McRoberts and others through SCAFO.

Ed German maintains an excellent website for current developments in the field, as well as a page on "problem" identifications and a forum taken advantage of by lay persons (and experts alike) seeking information about fingerprinting.

My mission is to supplement these websites and the excellent websites of others, and to create a home where input is welcome, information is free, and accessing it is as painless as possible.

One way to promote discussion and provide an environment of learning is to disperse tidbits of information directly into your INBOX!  I have started an e-mail newsletter (commonly called an e-zine) specifically for Latent Print Examiners.  If you are not a full time LPE, you may find this boring or too technical, although I try to keep it as interesting and relevant as possible.  It is very much an open and sometimes a spontaneous piece of work, ready to meet and greet you every Monday morning (if possible).  If you read along and think of something YOU have seen, experienced, dealt with, know, etc... I want you to SHARE it with everyone!  (and everyone wants you to share it with them as well!)  If you have information about an important happening in our field, e-mail me so I may include it.  If you join the list, be prepared to hear from others and be heard.

If you are in need of assistance with a fingerprint related issue or case, contact one of the consultants.  For larger projects or contract support for your agency, visit the Complete Consultants Worldwide section of the website.

This site is currently (and will probably CONTINUALLY be) under construction, so enjoy the growth.  If you have suggestions, I would enjoy hearing from you.   I'm just an e-mail away, so send your thoughts for the site to kaseywertheim@aol.com.

Enjoy CLPEX, and return often!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
