Rossmo's Criminal Investigative Failures (2009)

Postby L.J.Steele » Sat Jan 03, 2009 9:45 am

This arrived in my post-Christmas mail from CRC press. An interesting discussion of how things go wrong in criminal cases -- suffers a bit from being too general, without talking about specific problems, like bullet lead analysis. There's a couple of pages on Mayfield, and a few other scattered references to fingerprint stuff.

Also, the focus is good faith mistake, so there isn't a discussion of the rare lab fraud cases.

While bullet lead analysis is not discussed in detail in the book, it is mentioned as an example of a more general problem of evaluating evidence. See the paragraph that begins on the top of page 112.
